Registration Open!

Online class registration for the 2012-2013 school is open. The dates for the new year are September 7th - May 17th.  The winter break is December 21st to January 4th.   Spring break is March 22nd.

The tuition for the new school year is $260.00. This slight increase is due to an increase in our rent.  However, there is a $15 discount for registering during the month of August. With early registration, the cost remains the same as last year’s tuition. To ensure receiving the discounted price, please have your payments made no later than August 31st. Also, for your convenience, there is a secured credit card payment option but please note it carries an additional $5.00 processing fee.

Students are encouraged to purchase their textbooks through the Amazon link on the La Causerie website which, at no additional cost to members, gives a small portion of textbook sales to our school. Also, all of the links on the “BOOKS” page assure that you are ordering the correct edition for your particular class.

Parking

Parking is permitted in the church lot and in the lot in front of the church along the trail.  Please refrain from parking in the spots in front of the Crestwood Shops.  At the beginning of school attendance is up so parking may be congested.  Please plan accordingly.

Textbook

All textbooks remain the same.  Please check the book tab on the website for details.

New Instructors

We are pleased to welcome a new French Conversation Instructor, Mr. Nacer Khelouz.  Mr. Khelouz is a Professor at UMKC and gave a very interesting presentation at the close of school last May.

Helping Us Spread the Word

Every year new membership is consistently due to word of mouth, most of which is by current members! Letting others know about our organization is greatly appreciated and we hope you continue to let friends and family know of our language classes.

Summer Trip to the Nelson-Atkins a Success

Joan Adam reports that,

“For several years, La Causerie members have met during the summer months to visit with their linguistic comrades and to attend an event related to our languages. This year, La Causerie 36 members gathered at the Nelson-Atkins Museum to participate in a tour of the Museum’s Italian Art and to have lunch together at the Rozelle Court. The group was divided into two tour groups, led by two very well trained docents, which made visiting the exhibit enjoyable and informative. After the tour we sat in small groups at reserved tables in the Rozelle Court, which made conversation enjoyable. We were fortunate that three of our teachers: Doug Eikermann, Emily Wilhite and Luis Imperiale, joined the group for the tour and lunch. Thanks to the Nelson-Atkins staff for their efficient and gracious assistance!”

And a thank you to all who joined for the summer outing!

100 Year Celebration:

During this upcoming school year, La Causerie Française will celebrate it's 100th anniversary as a language school in Kansas City.  The Board is in the beginning stages of organizing one or more events to recognize this special accomplishment.  Mary Beveridge, one of our fellow students, has already volunteered several hours of her time to review many documents, photographs, and press releases regarding the school for the purpose of archiving the information.  The Board is asking members interested in being involved in the 100 Year Celebration Committee to please contact Board President, Judy Pearlstein, to become involved.  We think this will be a great project and a terrific way to get to know some fellow students.
